OK, a decent nights sleep to get over the debacle up at Blackpool and a little cold analysis on what we experienced.
It was a pitiful performance, two teams in the death throes of Championship football, neither having any guile or ambition to play football, panic stations at every pass (or hoof as it is collectively known elsewhere) just a hopeful punt to oblivion. It was not entertainment in even its loosest form. The Fuller incident probably acted as the only catalyst that got the away fans animated but cries of "we want our Millwall back" brought a rue smile to my lips.
There is no such thing as "our Millwall " really. It is like trying to reform Def Leppard using Rick Allen's severed arm as the only viable member of the original line up and expecting it all to be the same. Football teams keep evolving, sometimes good sometimes bad and sometimes fucking useless and at the moment I suspect we hovering the wrong side of the fucking useless scale...
Relegation is seemingly a formality, it is NOT the end of the world, we might have a reasonable amount of success in Division 1 and as long as your team is winning enough games over a season then you can at least claim some form of enjoyment.
There is little use in being in a league as a whipping boy for others, it breeds apathy and frustration in equal measures and serves no purpose at all. Forget the January transfer circus, play the youth team now for the rest of the season, it could not get any worse than it already is, there is no point in playing players who either won't be here next season or don't fit in or wasting money in a vain hope that we stave off relegation.
